Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine bearing ecophysiological and anatomical differences related to changing gypsum concentrations of Gypsophila eriocalyx Boiss. which is an endemic gypsophile species naturally grows in the soils. For this purpose, 13 soil and plant samples were taken from 5 different locations in which the plant grows, in the spring and summer months. Gypsum concentration in soil samples was determined by gravimetric method. According to soil gypsum analysis results, K, Ca, Mg and S concentrations and proline contents were determined in plant leaf samples growing in low (0-38%), medium (42-65%) and high (74-87%) gypsum concentrations. The results of the statistical analysis of the data demonstrate that the amount of proline in the plant decreases as soil gypsum concentration increases. K concentration in plant leaf samples were higher in different seasons in soil gypsum contents varying accoding to Ca, Mg and S element concentrations. Anatomical results indicate that the root, stem and leaf anatomical properties of the taxon are affected by different soil gypsum concentrations.
