Abstract

In recent times, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have become used in all fields of life, especially military and commercial ones. These networks are so widespread that it can be used in small enclosed spaces, or even to cover large geographical areas. But as usual, there are some threats that sabotage the functionality of these networks or misuse it. One of the most common of these threats is Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. In this article, we will summarize some of the most common techniques used in these attacks and classify it according to the targeted layer. Last, we will show the effect of DoS attacks on the lifetime of WSN’s that using MTE and LEACH protocol. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
