Farklılıklara Saygı Değerinin Ortaokul Öğrencilerine Kazandırılmasında Görsel Sanatlar Eğitiminin Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırma, farklılıklara saygı temelli görsel sanatlar etkinliklerinin ortaokul 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin farklılıklara saygı düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Karma modelin kullanıldığı bu araştırmanın birinci bölümünde, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Farklılıklara Saygı Ölçeği (FSÖ)'nin geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışması gerçekleştirilmiş, ikinci bölümde ise, farklılıklara saygı temelli görsel sanatlar etkinliklerinin öğrencilerin farklılıklara saygı düzeyine etkisi eşitlenmemiş kontrol gruplu öntest-sontest yarı deneysel desen yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Öncelikle deney ve kontrol grubuna FSÖ ön test olarak uygulanmıştır. Ardından uygulama sürecine geçilip deney grubuna farklılıklara saygı düzeylerini geliştirmeye yönelik hazırlanan 8 görsel sanatlar etkinliği; kontrol grubuna ise Görsel Sanatlar Öğretim Programı uygulanmıştır. Deney sürecinin sonunda deney ve kontrol gruplarına FSÖ son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutundaki veriler SPSS paket programı aracılığıyla non-parametrik testlerden Mann Whiney U ve Wilcoxon testleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda deney ve kontrol gruplarının uygulama öncesinde denk olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Deney grubunun farklılıklara saygı düzeyinin uygulanan program öncesi ve sonrası birbirlerinden farklı olup olmadığı incelemek için yapılan analizler sonucunda bir boyut (engel durumu) dışında 3 alt boyutta (toplumsal cinsiyet, fiziksel özellik ve kültürel kimlik) ve ölçeğin tümünden aldığı puanlar arasında son test lehine anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Kontrol grubunun farklılıklara saygı düzeyinin uygulanan program öncesi ve sonrası birbirlerinden farklı olup olmadığını incelemek için yapılan analizler sonucunda tüm alt boyutlarda ve ölçeğin tümünden aldığı puanlar arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmamıştır. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının farklılıklara saygı düzeylerinin uygulanan program sonrası birbirlerinden farklı olup olmadığını incelemek için yapılan analizler sonucunda bir boyut dışında 3 alt boyutta ve ölçeğin tümünden aldıkları puanlar arasında deney grubu son test lehine anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlara göre, farklılıklara saygı temelli görsel sanatlar etkinliklerinin çocukların farklılıklarına saygı düzeylerini anlamlı düzeyde geliştirdiği görülmüştür.

This research was conducted to examine the effect of respect for difference-based visual arts activities on the sixth grade middle school students' respect for differences level. In the first part of this research, where mixed model was applied, validity and reliability study of the Respect for Differences Scale developed by the researcher was carried out. In the second part, the effect of respect for difference-based visual arts activities on the students' respect for differences level was researched applying unequalized pretest-posttest quasi-experimental control group method. Respect for Differences Scale was firstly applied to experimental and control groups as a pre-test. Eight visual arts activities to develop their levels of respect for differences was applied to experimental group and the Visual Arts Education Program was applied to the control group. Respect for Differences Scale was applied to the experimental and control groups as a posttest. The data in the quantitative dimension of the research were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests via SPSS program. As a result of the analyses, it was understood that the experimental and control groups were equivalent before the implementation. Analyses performed were concluded to examine whether the respect for differences level of the experimental group was different before and after the applied program. Apart from one dimension, there was a significant difference found in favor of the posttest between the scores obtained from three subdimensions and the entire scale. There was no significant difference found between all sub-dimensions and the scores obtained from the whole scale. Analyses performed were concluded to examine whether the respect for differences level of the experimental group and control group was different after the applied program. Apart from one dimension, there was a significant difference found in favor of the posttest of the experimental group between the scores obtained from three subdimensions and the entire scale. According to these results, it was observed that respect for difference-based visual arts activities significantly developed the children's respect for differences level.
