Validation of the Vocational Identity Measure Among Turkish College Students

Abstract

In this multi-study research, we aimed to validate the Vocational Identity Measure (VIM; Gupta et al., 2015). The research was conducted in three consecutive studies with independent samples of Turkish college students. In Study 1 (N = 353), confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency coefficients, and measurement invariance tests across gender were employed to establish the construct validity and reliability of the Turkish VIM. Study 2 (N = 175) assessed criterion-related validity, while Study 3 (N = 70) evaluated test-retest reliability. The findings provided robust empirical support for the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the VIM. By addressing the gap in vocational identity assessment within the Turkish context, this research offers a validated measure for use in future studies and interventions. It also contributes to the cross-cultural validation of the VIM.
