Abstract

In 1979, Blakley and Shamir proposed a new concept called secret sharing based on dividing the secret among n participants. This method, also called the (t, n) threshold scheme, requires at least t of the n participants for revealing the secret. Chen used the Blakley's geometry based secret sharing scheme for secret image sharing in 2008. Share image sizes are the same with the original secret image. Geometry based secret sharing scheme that uses the hyperspherical functions, proposed by Wu and He in 1995 is adapted to secret image sharing in this paper. Share sizes are 1/t smaller than that of the Chen's scheme as stated in results. Smaller shares are an important criterion for evaluation of Secret Image sharing schemes. Using geometry based SS scheme different from Blakley's scheme resulted in smaller shadow images. ©2009 IEEE.
