Genelleştirilmiş Momentler Metodunun İrdelenmesi ve Bir Uygulama

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Türkiye eğitim sistemindeki iller arasındaki farklılaşmanın Genelleştirilmiş Momentler Metodu (GMM) yardımıyla açıklanması amaçlanmaktadır.Eğitim daha dünyaya gelmeden önce anne karnında başlayan ve ömür boyu devam eden bir süreçtir. Her yeni bilgi daha önce kazanılmış bilginin üzerine inşa edilir. Bu süreçte zaman içerisindeki değişimler ve bağımlılıklar çok önem taşır.Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde zamana göre değişen ve birden çok değişkenin analizini yapmaya imkan veren Panel Veri Analizi üzerinde durulmuştur. Panel Veri Analizinin kullanıldığı benzer çalışmalara da bu bölümde yer verilmiştir. Çalışmanın yöntem bölümünde GMM ve tahmin edicileri incelenmektedir ve bu çalışmada kullanılış amacına değinilmektedir.Çalışmanın uygulama bölümünde ise Türkiye'de 2007-2010 yılları arasında yapılan Öğrenci Seçme Sınavı (ÖSS) sonuçlarının GMM yöntemiyle iller bazındaki farklılıkları; demografik, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan incelenmiş ve sonuç bölümünde aradaki farklar yorumlanmıştır.Türkiye eğitim sisteminde eğitime genel anlamıyla iş sahibi olmak amacıyla devam edilir. Her okulda eşit seviyede kalite sağlanamaması nedeniyle merkezi sınavlarla öğrenciler tercihlerine göre en iyi okullara yerleşebilmek için yarışırlar. Bu yarış üniversite giriş sınavlarına kadar devam eder. Bu çalışmada ÖSS sonuçlarının illere göre değişimleri ele alınmış ve GMM bu tür verilere başarıyla uygulanmıştır. Modelin uygulanması sonucunda Türkiye için bölge ve iller bazında eğitim başarısı için önemli sonuçlar ortaya konmuştur.Anahtar kelimeler: Panel Veri Analizi, Genelleştirilmiş Momentler Metodu, En Küçük Kareler, GMM Tahmincileri, Türkiye Eğitim Sistemi, ÖSS.

In this study, it is intented to explain the differentiation between cities regarding Turkish Education System by means of Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). Education is a process beginning in the womb of mother before birth and ongoing throughout life. Each new knowledge is built on previously acquired knowledge. In this process, the changes and dependencies throughout time are crucial.In the second section of the study, the panel data analysis which enables the analysis of multiple variables varying in time is emphasized. Similar studies using panel data analysis are also included in this section. In the methodology section of the study, GMM analysis and its estimators is elaborated and the purpose of usage is taken into account.In the application section of the study, the differences of University Entrance Examination?s (OSS) results on the province level between 2007-2010 in Turkey are interpreted. The differences are examined demographically, socially and economically by using the GMM estimators and the results of the study is interpreted in the conclusion section.The goal of students in Turkey is getting the necessary talents to find a job. Students compete to enter the best schools due to the presence of the inequality of education quality in schools. The race continues until the University Entrance Examination. In this study, the differences on University Entrance Examination?s (OSS) results are discussed and GMM analysis applied successfully.
