The results of 21 pediatric patients in which a subduralperitoneal (SP) shunt was inserted at Ondokuz Mayls University, Medical Faculty from 1990 to 1994 for the treatment of subdural collection are presented. The most common symptoms and signs were seizures, fewer, vomiting, full fontanel and headache (in verbal children). Subdural collections were diagnosed with computed tomography in all cases. SP shunts were removed in 16 cases after cortical expantion. There was no operative mortality. SP shunts seems to be effective and less complicated method for the treatment of chronic subdural collection.en_US
