3-(4-Methylpyridin-2-ylamino)Isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one

Abstract

Crystals of the title compound, C<inf>14</inf>H<inf>12</inf>O <inf>2</inf>N<inf>2</inf>, are stabilized by inversion-related N - H⋯N and C - H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds and also by two C - H⋯π interactions. The N - H⋯N and C - H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate R<inf>2</inf>2(8) and R<inf>2</inf>2(10) ring motifs, respectively, and the phthalide section of the molecule is planar. The dihedral angle between the phthalide group and the pyridyl ring is 82.06(17)°. © 2006 International Union of Crystallography. All rights reserved.
