Abstract

Objective: The aim of this research is to investigate the knowledge levels regarding patients' rights among Faculty Members and Research Assistants at the Medical School of the Afyon Kocatepe University. Materials and Methods: The survey, which was carried out during February-March 2009, included a questionnaire based on "Regulation on Patients' Rights". Results: There were no significant differences between Faculty Members and Research Assistants in terms of number and score. Most of the wrong answers were on the "Patient Rights Protection" item. Success scores of Faculty Members and Research Assistants were 74.9 +/- 9.2 and 74.5 +/- 9.1, respectively. Conclusion: The knowledge levels of Faculty Members and Research Assistants at Afyon Kocatepe University regarding patients' rights are sufficient. However, this issue should be brought to the attention consistently, as long as knowledge of social security and informed consent in the medical practices and clinical researches are insufficient.
