Comment On: "A Novel Total Least Absolute Deviation Solution for the 3D Symmetric Datum Transformation" by Zhipeng & Zhang

Abstract

A recent paper by Zhipeng & Zhang (2025) in Survey Review, https://doi.org/10.1080/00396265.2025.2488665 on a novel total least absolute deviation solution for the 3D symmetric datum transformation. One particular point in the paper caught my attention. The values in the TLS column of Table 4 of the article are incorrect (page8). It is obvious that the authors did not make the necessary checks, and the reviewers were insufficiently thorough. It would be appropriate to make this correction in order to inform the readers correctly.
