dc.description.abstractIn this study, the relation between the level of self-acceptance and various individual, family, and economic variables of state high school students in the city of Samsun is examined. In addition, prevalent primary and secondary self- acceptance levels are studied. In order to evaluate self-acceptance levels 'Self- Acceptance Inventory' is used in order to get information about students 'Personal Information Form' is developped. The study includes total 23957 students, 13544 of which were male, 10413 female in the state high schools in the city of Samsun in the 1995-1996 educational year. Sampling constitutes 386 male, 397 female, total 783 students attending the first, second and third classes. The findings of this study can be summarized as the following: 1. It is concluded that in respect of sex: the difference between the level of self-acceptance is not significant. 2. It is found that in respect of class level: the difference between the level of self acceptance is not significant. 3. It is concluded that in respect of school type the self-acceptance level of students in Anadolu High School is higher than others, and the self-acceptance level of students in Vocational School for Girls is lower than others. 4. It is seen that in respect of the family's monthly income, the self- acceptance level of the students with a high income level is higher than the others. 5. It is found that the self-acceptance level of students who have parents with a democratic attitude is higher than others.111 6. It is determined that the self acceptance level of students who come from families with less 1-2 children, is higher than others. 7. It is found that the self acceptance level of students whose parents are faculty graduateds is higher than others. 8. It is seen that the self-acceptance level of students whose mothers are officials and fathers are retired is higher than others. 9. It is found out that the self-acceptance level of students who participate social and cultural activities is higher than students who do not participate in those activities. 10. The difference between the self-acceptance level of students whose parents are alive and those whose parents are not is concluded to be not significant. 11. It is concluded that the self-acceptance level of students who perceives their school success as very good is higher than others. In this investigation it is stated that the self acceptance level of students in the sampling is at 'middle level'.en_US
