In this study, M-Mode echocardiographic examinations of currently racing thoroughbred English (n=40) and Arabian (n=40) horses between 2-5 years old, in Turkey Jokey Club Veli Efendi Hippodrome were performed. M-Mode echocardiographic measurements were applied in 2-D guidance in four standard transducer positions including musculus papillaris (TP-I), chorda tendinei (TP-II), mitral valve (TP-III) and aortic root (TP-IV) levels and echocardiographic parameters like heart interior diameters, miyocardial thicknesses, left ventricle volume and left ventricle contractability criteria were determined. Averages of the groups (X) and standard errors (Sx) were calculated by variance analyses method and multipl comparisons were calculated by Tukey test. In this study, statistical significance in TP-I and TP-II level for left ventricle interior diameters, left atrium interior diameter, aort root end-diastolic interior diameter and in TP-II and TP-III levels for interventricler septum thicknesses, left ventricle ejection fraction, left ventricle partial contractibility, ejection time were determined in English horse's favour, and in TP-III level for left ventricle end-diastolic and end-sistolic wall thicknesses in favour of Arabian race horses and furthermore referance values for both races were demonstrated. We have the opinion that this study will contribute a current examination technique to equide's cardiodiagnostics and can be employed routinely and will also be a potantial source for the further studies.en_US
