Abstract
Yerküre üzerinde pek çok bölgede; özellikle kurak ve yarı kurak iklimlerde şişen zeminlere sıkça rastlanmaktadır. Yüksek kil içerikli şişen zeminler büyük hacim değişimlerine uğrayarak özellikle hafif yapılara ciddi hasarlar vermekte, ekonomik kayıplar oluşturmaktadırlar. Bu tür zeminlerin şişme davranışlarını ve bu davranışa etkiyen faktörleri belirleyerek oluşabilecek zararları en aza indirgemek veya önlemek mümkündür.Bu çalışmada Atakum / Samsun yerleşim alanından alınan beş adet numune üzerinde zeminin geoteknik özellikleri ile şişme potansiyelini belirleyici analizler yapılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları ile önceden yapılmış çalışmalara ait veriler incelenmiştir. Killi zeminin şişme potansiyelinin yüksek olduğu görülmüştür.İnşaat mühendisliği uygulamalarında; yapı, zemin ve temel sistemi iyi etüt edilmelidir. Zemindeki şişme potansiyeli yapıda ekstra gerilmeler meydana getirir. Bu durum göz önünde bulundurularak inşa edilecek yapıların geoteknik etütlerinin titizlikle yapılması, doğru temel sistemlerinin seçilmesi gerekmektedir.
The swelling soils are frequently met in many regions of the world and especially in dry and half-dry lands. Theese soils including clay with high ranges and they are exposed to large volume changes and particularly couse great damages on light ? weight constructions like highway, airport, etc. with large economic losses. Predetermining the swelling behaviors and affecting factors of them prevents possible damage occurrences.In this study, five undisturbed sample are taken from Samsun / Atakum residantial area conducted to geotechnical analysis for determining the geotechnical properties and swelling potential of the soils. The results of analysis were examined with the results of previous studies. Swelling potential of clayey soil were high.Civil engineering applications; structure, soil and foundation system should be well studied. Swelling potential of the soil, creates extra stresses on structure. Considering this situation, geotechnical surveys must be done carefully and foundation systems should be selected correctly for structures to be constructed.
