Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze RED (Recurring Esthetic Dental) proportion of patients who underwent restorative treatment due to anterior teeth esthetic concerns. Material and Method: 51 patients who have not been subjected to orthodontic treatment and trauma before and who have periodontally healthy gums but not satisfied with their esthetic aspects due to diestema, and composite discoloration, their initial photograph and impression were taken. The cast model was treated with wax-up technique according to the ideal RED proportions, and silicone key was prepared. Appropriate composite was selected for the patient's teeth and the composite restoration was completed with the help of the prepared silicone key. Second impression and final photograph were taken. RED proportion analysis was performed on the second cast model and the data were recorded and statistically analyzed. Results: In this study, significant differences were found between the ideal measurements developed by Daniel H Ward and the pre-treatment value of central incisor width (CIW) (P = 0.001), the pre-treatment value of lateral incisor width (LIW) (P <0.001) and the pre-treatment value of canine width (CW) (P = 0.031). Therefore, CIW, LIW and CW values obtained before the treatment was differing considerably from the ideal measurements. While the similarity ratio between pre-treatment and ideal values for CIW was 74.3%, it increased to 98.9% for the same values after the treatment. The similarity ratio between the pre-treatment and ideal values for LIW was 45.5%, it increased to 85.0% for the same values after the treatment. The similarity ratio between pre-treatment and ideal values for CW was 27.9%, it increased to 52.0% for the same values after the treatment. Conclusions: In our study, central incsor width, lateral incisor width, and canine width values have reached the desired level (ideal values). Keywords: Esthetic analysis; recuring esthetic dental proportion; RED proportion; proportional smile design; tooth/face proportion
