Determination of Trophic Status of Aquatic Systems of Ballıkaya Nature Park (Kocaeli, Turkey)

dc.description.abstractAlgae flora and water quality of Ballıkaya creek and pond which near Gebze industrial zone have not been \ryet investigated. Therefore, to aims was made to determine of the physicochemical structure of the water and its algae \rflora in the creek and pond. This study, trophic level of the river and the external factors affecting it were determined \rwith the help of various indices due to epilytic diatoms. Between August 2016 and July 2017, water and stone samples \rwere taken seasonally from a total of 5 stations, 3 from the creek and 2 from the pond. The samples were examined \raccording to standard techniques and methods.\rIn this study, 20 species belonging to Bacillariophyta, 3 to Chlorophyta, 1 to Cyanophyta, 3 to Euglenozoa, 1 \rto Ochrophyta and 1 to Miozoa were identified. Only Bacillariophyta members were found due to the flow of water in \rthe algal flora of Ballıkaya Creek. Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta, Euglenozoa, Ochrophyta and Mioza species were detected \rin the algae flora in the pond due to stagnant water. Physicochemical parameters measured in water were found \rbetween respectively pH 7.6-8.2, sulfate 29-25 mg / L, sulfide 0.88-2.44 mg / L, ammonia nitrogen 0.03-0.55 mg / L, \rnitrite 0.03- 0.04 mg / L and nitrate 1.16-8.28 mg / L. As a result of the research, TDI 57.55, IPS 3.55, IDG 3.33 and \rTIT 2.75 were determined. When Ballıkaya Creek and pond were evaluated in terms of diatom indexes and water \rquality values, they were exposed to organic pollution and they were found to be close to water quality class IIen_US
