2-[2-(Hydroxymethyl)phenyliminomethyl]-Phenol

Abstract

Molecules of the title compound, C<inf>14</inf>H<inf>13</inf>NO <inf>2</inf>, are nearly planar. The molecular structure is stabilized by a strong intramolecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond between the imine and hydroxyl groups [O⋯N = 2.614 (2) Å]. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.681 (3) and 2.641 (3) Å] link inversion-related molecules into chains parallel to the a axis. © 2004 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
