Veteriner Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Beslenme Bilgi Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırmada, Veteriner Fakültesi'nde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin temel beslenme bilgisi ve besin tercihlerini kapsayan beslenme bilgi düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Materyal ve Metot: Araştırma tarama modeli kullanılarak Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi'nde öğrenim gören 122'si kadın, 126'sı erkek toplam 248 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada veriler, Hilal Batmaz (2018) tarafından geliştirilen Temel Beslenme ve Besin Tercihi bölümlerinden oluşan Yetişkinler İçin Beslenme Bilgi Düzeyi (YETBİD) Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan Veteriner Fakültesi öğrencilerinin %77,4'ünün temel beslenme bilgisi, %54,1'nin ise besin tercihlerinin iyi seviyede olduğu saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin sınıfları ve yaşları ile temel beslenme bilgisi ve besin tercihleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmamıştır (p > 0,05). Cinsiyet ile temel beslenme bilgisi arasında anlamlı bir farklılık belirlenmemiş olup (p > 0,05), besin tercihleri arasında kadın öğrenciler lehine anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmıştır (p < 0,05). Sonuç: Araştırma sonucunda Veteriner Fakültesi öğrencilerinin temel beslenme bilgisi ve besin tercihlerinin iyi seviyede olduğu saptanmıştır. Karbonhidrat, protein, lipid, vitamin ve minerallerin yapısını ve metabolizmasını kapsayan biyokimya dersi başta olmak üzere, besin ve besin ögelerini içeren diğer derslerin öğrencilerin beslenme bilgi düzeylerinin iyi seviyede olmasında etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. Aim: In this research, it was aimed to determine of the nutritional knowledge levels of the students, who study at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, including basic nutritional knowledge and food preferences. Materials and Methods: The research was coordinated through research screening model with 248 students, 122 female and 126 male, who study at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ondokuz Mayıs University. The data in research were collected with scale of the Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale for Adults (NKLSA), which consists of Basic Nutrition and Food Preference sections developed by Hilal Batmaz (2018). The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS statistical program. Results: It was determined that 77.4% of the students participated in the research of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine had good degree basic nutritional knowledge and 54.1% had good degree food preferences. It wasn't determined a significant difference among the classes, ages of the students with their basic nutritional knowledge and food preferences (p > 0.05). It wasn't specified a significant difference between gender and basic nutritional knowledge (p > 0.05) and it was determined a significant difference in female students' favour between food preferences (p < 0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was determined that the basic nutrition knowledge and nutritional preferences of the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were good. It is thought that the biochemistry course in particular including the structure and metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals, and other courses that contain nutrients and nutrients elements are effective in making good degree the nutritional knowledge level of the students.
