Eğitmenlerin Uzaktan Eğitime Yönelik Pedagojik Yeterliliklerinin Uzaktan Eğitim Ders Videoları Aracılığıyla İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı uzaktan eğitimde kullanılan ders videolarında kullanılan öğretim yöntemlerinin tespit edilmesi, bu öğretim yöntemlerinin gerektirdiği pedagojik yaklaşımların hangi ölçüde yerine getirildiğinin tespit edilmesi ve eğitimcilerin uzaktan eğitime yönelik pedagojik yeterliliklerinin ortaya çıkartılmasıdır. Durum çalışması olarak tasarlanan bu çalışmada karma yöntem yaklaşımı temel alınmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışmaya temel oluşturması açısından literatürde en sık kullanılan öğretim yöntemleri incelenerek bu yöntemler hakkında detaylı bilgiler toplanmıştır. Daha sonra Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Uzaktan Eğitim Merkezi (OMÜ UZEM) bünyesinde çeşitli derece programlarında eğitim veren 91 eğitimcinin 182 adet ders videosu hazırlanan gözlem rubriği aracılığı ile alan uzmanlarından oluşan izleme ekibi tarafından incelenmiştir. Daha sonra gözlem rubriği ışığında elde edilen verilerden yola çıkılarak videolar ayrı ayrı içerik analizine tabi tutulmuş ve yorumlanmıştır. Bu sayede hem nicel hem de nitel veriler işe koşularak çoklu bir veri kaynağı oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırmayı derinleştirmek için ders videolarında yer alan ifadeler, ekran alıntıları ve ders vidolarının süreleri gibi farklı veri kaynaklarından da yararlanılmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda OMÜ UZEM bünyesinde yer alan ders videolarında hangi öğretim yöntem, teknik ve stratejilerin ne sıklıkla ve ne kadar etkili kullanıldığı ayrıca öğretim yönteminin gerektirdiği aşamaların ne şekilde yerine getirildiği ile ilgili bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre ders videolarında kullanılan öğretim yöntemi çeşitliliğinin sunuş yöntemiyle sınırlı kaldığı, öğretim yönteminin bazı aşamalarının eğitimciler tarafından çok az kullanıldığı, yöntemin önerdiği stratejilerin her ders türü için kullanılmaya uygun olmadığı, yöntem tarafından önerilen bazı stratejilerin uzaktan eğitim ders videolarında uygulanmasının zor olduğu ve eğitimcilerin ders videosu hazırlarken içinde bulundukları durumun yöntem kullanımı doğrudan etkilediği gözlemlenmiştir. Tüm bu bulgular ışığında uzaktan eğitim ders videosu hazırlanmasına yönelik somut öneriler tartışılmış ve öneriler sunuluştur.

This research aims to determine the teaching methods used in distance education course videos. It is also aimed to find out the extent of pedagogical approaches which are requirements of teaching methods and to reveal the pedagogical efficacies of trainers in distance education. The research is designed as a case study with a mixed-method approach. The most frequently used teaching methods in the literature were examined to provide a basis for the study and detailed information about those methods was collected. 182 lecture videos of 91 educators who teach in various degree programs at Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Center (OMÜ UZEM) were determined. These videos were reviewed by a monitoring team that is composed of field experts. Experts evaluated and rated the course videos using the observation rubric prepared by researchers according to the existing literature. Then, the videos were analyzed and interpreted independently. In this way, multiple data sources were created by using both quantitative and qualitative data collection procedures. To deepen the research, different data sources such as the expressions in the lecture videos, screenshots, and the duration of the lecture videos were tried to be used. The findings suggested that the variety of teaching methods used in lecture videos was limited to the presentation method. The use of some parts of the teaching method is limited. The strategies suggested by the teaching method are not suitable to be used for each type of course. It has been found that some of the strategies suggested by the teaching method are difficult to apply in distance education lecture videos. Also, it was observed that the situation of the educators when they prepared the course videos directly affected the use of the method. Based on all these findings, concrete suggestions for the preparation of a distance education course video were discussed and presented.
