Terme İlçesinin Kültürel Dokusunda Amazon Efsanesi

Abstract

Efsane, gerçek veya hayalî, belli bir şahıs, olay veya yer hakkında anlatılan hikayedir. Efsaneler insanların hayatına anlam ve derinlik katarlar. Bir taraftan da çevreyi korumaya yardımcı olurlar. Amazonları tanımak, onların tarihini araştırmak bilgi ve belgeleri derleyerek günümüzde uluslararası alana sunmak çok zordur. Çünkü Amazonlar bir efsane olarak bilinmektedir. Amazonlar denilince akla Samsun'un Terme ilçesi gelmektedir. Amazonlar kuvvetli bir ihtimalle on bin yıllık anaerkil toplumun son dönem temsilcileridir. Amazonlar hakkında ilk bilgilere MÖ.850'li yıllarda Anadolu'da ya-şamış, gözleri görmeyen bir şair olan Homeros'un İlyada Destanı'nda rastlıyoruz. Amazonlar rivayete göre yabancı koca ile evlenirler, erkek çocuk sahibi olur-larsa onu öldürürler. Kız olursa iyi yay kullanabilmesi için sağ memesini keserler veya dağlarlardı. Bu nedenle bu kadınlara tek memeli anlamında 'Amazon' denilmiştir. Amazon efsanesi Terme'nin kültürel dokusunu çeşitli alanlarda etkilemektedir. Amazonlar adına festivaller, sempozyumlar, güreşler düzenlenmekte; şair ve yazarlar edebî eserlerinde bu konuyu işlemekte ve nihayet bu efsane bir turizm potansiyeli olarak görülmektedir. Amazonların başkenti olarak Terme kabul edilmektedir. Bugün Terme'de savaşçı kadınları ifade eden bir Amazon heykeli bulunmaktadır. Terme'deki Simenit Gölü de Amazonlar açısından önemli bir yer olarak kabul edilmektedir. Sonuç olarak bu çalışmada Terme ilçesinin kültürel dokusunda Amazon efsa-nesi ele alınmıştır. Amazon efsanesi çeşitli kaynaklar ışığında incelenmiş ve Terme ilçesi ile bağlantısı ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Amazon, Terme, kadın, efsane

A legend is a kind of story which tells either a true or an imaginary person, place and event. Legends give people's lives a meaning. Besides, they also protect theenvironment. To know Amazon people,to make research about their history, and to present them to the international area by compiling information and document about the Amazon people because of the fact that they are knows as a legend. When one thinks of the Amazon people,Terme comes to his/her mind. Amazon people are most probably thelast examples of the matriarchal society of 10.000 years. Weencounter the first information aboutthe Amazons in theepic of Iliad by Homer who was a blind poet having been lived in Anatolia in 850 B.C. Rumour has it that the Amazon women marry an outsider and if they have a son, they kill him. They used to cut off their doughter's left breast so that she could use arc well. For that reason these people are called 'Amazon' that means women with one breast. The Amazon mythos affects the culturel texture of Terme in various areas. Festivals, symposiums and wrestling matches are organized; poets and writers use this subject in their literary Works and eventually this legend is seen as a tourism potential. Terme is accepted as the capital of the Amazons. Today there is a statue of an Amazon women which is a representation of thesewarrior women in Terme. The Simenit Lake in Terme is also an important place for he Amazons. In conclusion, in this work, the Amazon people in the cultural texture of Ter-me is discussed. The Amazon mythos is studied in the light of different sources and its connection with Terme is presented. Key Words: The Amazon, Terme, woman, legend.
