Multiple Sklerozlu Hastaların Aldıkları Sosyal Desteğin Anksiyete Düzeyine Etkisi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma Multiple Skleroz (MS) hastalarının aldıkları sosyal desteğin anksiyete düzeyine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlanmıştır. Materyal ve Metot: Bu araştırma Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Sağlık Uygulama ve Araştırma Hastanesi Nöroloji Kliniği ve Polikliniği'nde 01.03.2017 ve 16.02.2018 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 18 yaş ve üzerinde olan, en az altı ay önce MS tanısı alan, psikiyatrik hastalık tanısı almayan 123 MS hastası oluşturmuştur. Veriler hastaların sosyo-demografik, hastalık ve anksiyete durumlarına ilişkin 28 soruluk anket formu, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ve Hamilton Anksiyete Değerlendirme Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hastaların, %70,7'sinin 32 yaş ve üzeri, %65,9'unun kadın, %69,1'inin evli, %39'unun ilköğretim mezunu, %29,2'sinin hastalık nedeniyle çalışamıyor durumda olduğu, %34,1'inin 9 yıl ve daha uzun süredir MS tedavisi aldığı belirlenmiştir. Hastaların %30,1'i MS nedeniyle sosyal ilişkilerinin devamlı etkilendiğini, %87,8'i anksiyete yaşadığını, %43,1'inin hastalık süresince eşinden destek aldığı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan hastaların ÇBASDÖ toplam puan ortalaması 57,18±18,5, HAM-A toplam puan ortalaması 20,33±10,42 olarak bulunmuştur. ÇBASDÖ toplam puan ortalaması ile EDSS arasında negatif yönlü zayıf anlamlı ilişki, HAM-A toplam puan ortalaması ile EDSS arasında pozitif yönlü zayıf anlamlı ilişki elde edilmiştir. ÇBASDÖ toplam puan ortalaması ile HAMA toplam puanı ve alt boyutları arasında negatif yönlü zayıf anlamlı ilişki belirlenmiştir (p<005). Sonuç: Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda MS hastalarının aldıkları toplam sosyal destek puanının yüksek düzeyde, toplam anksiyete puanının orta düzeyde olduğu bulunmuştur. Sosyal destek ile anksiyete düzeyleri arasında negatif ilişki elde edilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Multiple skleroz; Sosyal destek; Anksiyete; Hemşirelik

Aim:This study was planned as a descriptive study in order to determine the effect of social support on Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients' anxiety level. Material and Method:This study wasconducted between 01.03.2017 and 16.02.2018 at the Neurology Clinic and Polyclinic of Ondokuz Mayıs University Health Application and Research Hospital.The sample of the study consisted of 123 MS patients, 18 years of age and over, who were diagnosed with MS at least six months ago and were not diagnosed with psychiatric disease.The data were collected using a 28-questioned questionnaire on socio-demographic, disease and anxiety status of the patients, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Results:The patients who participated in the study, 70.7% were 32 years and over, 65.9% were women, 69.1% were married, 39% were primary school graduates, 29.2% were unable to work because of illness, It was determined that 34.1% had been treated with MS for 9 years or longer.In order30.1% of the patients had continuous social relations due to MS, 87.8% had anxiety and 43.1% had support from their spouses during the illness.The mean total score of the participants in the study was 57.18±18.5 and the mean total score of HAM-A was 20.33±10.42.A significant weak negative correlation was found between the mean total score of the MSPSS and EDSS, and a significant weak positive correlation between the mean total score of the HAM-A and EDSS (p <0.05). There was a weak negative correlation between the mean total score of the MSPSS and the HAM-A total score and the sub-dimensions (p <0.05). Conclusion:According to the findings, it was found that the total social support score of the MS patients was high and the total anxiety score was moderate. A negative correlation was found between social support and anxiety levels. Keywords:Multiple sclerosis; Social support; Anxiety; Nursing
