Adlerian Social Interest Scale-Romantic Relationship Form (ASIS-RR): Scale Development and Psychometric Properties

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop and examine the validity and reliability of the Adlerian Social Interest Scale- Romantic Relationship Form (ASIS-RR). University students (N = 400) from the Ondokuz Mayis University in Turkey participated in this study. The students were evaluated using the ASIS-RR and Social Interest Index (SII). In the reliability analysis, the Cronbach a-coefficient was calculated as 0.90. Test-retest reliability of the scale was found to be r= 0.93. For the validity, ASIS-RR was compared with the SII, the correlation was found to be 0.64 (p<0.001). For the construct validity, only one factor with eigenvalue >1.00 was obtained. The psychometric properties of the ASIS-RR were found to be satisfactory, and may be used to assess the social interest in romantic relationships. © 2009 Individual Differences Association, Inc.
