The Perception of Ibn Hazm on Commandment of Allah

Abstract

In this article, we have tried to determine the perception of Ibn Hazm on commandment of Allah by considering his two important books: al-Muhalla and alIhkam. In this respect, after examining the sources of commandments of Allah, types of them was focused in the context of the notion of Maratib as-Shariah, which is the notion only used by Ibn Hazm with the meaning of the degrees of divine provisions. Then, categorical classification of commandments of Allah as "wajib", "mubakh" and "kharam" in general was pointed out; afterwards, the definiton of "wajib", its relation with "fard" and general qualifications was analyzed. Finally, by examining the transformation of provisions in the perception of Ibn Hazm, his understanding of commandment of Allah was tried to evaluate.
