Industry 4.0 and Organizational Agility in the Context of Digital Transformation

Abstract

Organizational transformations, which started with the transition from workshop production to the assembly line, have moved to another dimension with the rapid developments in technology today. Therefore, it is seen that the transformation in organizations has shifted to digital areas with the effective use of Industry 4.0 technologies, and the digitalization process is experienced even in very simple organizations. The survival of organizations in an increasingly difficult competitive environment depends on the digital transformations they can perform in these processes. In this context, the ability to anticipate changing customer expectations and competitive conditions, as well as to respond quickly to customer demands, shows the agility level of organizations. In this study, based on the relevant literature, advanced technological changes that emerged with Industry 4.0 in the context of the digital transformation process and their effects on organizational life and the reactions of organizations to these changes are evaluated within the scope of organizational agility. As a result, it can be said that the concept of organizational agility is important because it is thought that the digital transformation process, which is very fast today, will accelerate in the future and some organizations or organizational activities are thought to end. © 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
