The existence of digital currencies is directly related to the wide spread of Internet and online markets. Considering the trust required in money transfer transactions and the similarity of multiple basic security issues, the idea of using digital money has become realistic in light of the developments in cryptography. In the last 20 years, various digital currencies have been developed, but since 2008 the project has been carried out for a decentralized currency in all respects. Under the leadership of bitcoin, all the crypto coins contain innovative technologies that offer a variety of advantages such as fast processing, low cost, and no need for a third-party agent. This section provides the technology infrastructure that enables third-party transfer of funds between the parties without the need to make it happen; cryptography and coins are examined. Currency categories that have been classified in history with different characteristics and the infrastructure they have in recent years and the digital coins, infrastructures, and advantages offered by them are examined in detail. © Peter Lang GmbH Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Berlin 2019.
