Abstract

Gamma irradiated LiK<inf>0.97</inf>(NH<inf>4</inf>)<inf>0.03</inf>SO<inf>4</inf> (LKS) and Li<inf>2</inf>KNH<inf>4</inf>(SO<inf>4</inf>)<inf>2</inf> (LKAS) single and powder crystals were studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique in the temperature range of 113-373 K. The species, responsible for the EPR spectrum, were found to be NH<inf>3</inf>+, SO<inf>3</inf>- and SO<inf>4</inf>- radicals. The principle values of the g and hyperfine tensors were found for each crystal. The spectra change significantly in the temperature range from 113 to 373 K. These changes were attributed to structural phase transitions. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
