| dc.description.abstract | The stereological approach is particularly relevant in clinical and experimental scientific studies dealing with morphological data, as stereology converts this histomorphometric examination to quantitative data. Using an appropriate unbiased sampling strategy is inevitable to obtain reliable results. However, in vitro studies are often far from unbiased evaluations, and the stereological estimations are rarely done due to restrictions of stereological aspects. Therefore, new stereological insights should be manifested for in vitro studies. Although conversion of experimental outcomes to the clinical modality always requires final pre-clinical steps using in vivo animal models, in vitro models are also requisite from an ethical perspective before those steps. This chapter addresses the current stereological methods available for scientific studies by adopting in vitro models. It is aimed to ease researchers in selecting the best stereological approach for their scientific goals for in vitro studies. © 2024 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved. | en_US |
