Geometrik Kavramların Oluşumunda Bilişsel Araç Olarak Geogebra Kullanımı

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin bazı geometrik kavramların oluşumuna yönelik bilişsel araç olarak geliştirilen GeoGebra destekli öğretim materyallerinin kavram oluşumu üzerine etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu amaç kapsamında 'matematik öğretiminde bilişsel araç olarak kullanılan GeoGebra yazılımının beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin geometrik kavram oluşumu üzerinde nasıl bir etkisi vardır?' sorusu araştırılmıştır. GeoGebra yazılımının kullanımında matematik dersi 5. sınıf programında yer alan dört farklı geometri kazanımı alt öğrenme alanı olarak seçilmiştir. GeoGebra ile hazırlanan etkinlikler ve buna bağlı olarak hazırlanan çalışma sayfaları ve etkinlikler sonunda öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmeler bu çalışmanın veri setini oluşturmuştur. Araştırma ortaokul beşinci sınıf 23 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrenciler, birinci dönem matematik sınav not ortalamalarına göre, not ortalamaları birbirine yakın olacak şekilde beş gruba ayrılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler dört haftalık bir süreç içerisinde toplanmıştır. Bulgulardan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda bilişsel araç olarak geliştirilen GeoGebra dinamik yazılımının kavram oluşuma olumlu etkisi olduğu görülmektedir. GeoGebra'nın taşıdığı ve potansiyel olarak sunduğu özellikler ve olanakların öğrenme ortamları için yeni fırsatlar sunacağı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmeler sonucunda, bilgisayar kullanımının dersi daha ilgi çekici hale getirdiği, grup olarak işbirliği içerisinde yapılan çalışmalardan keyif alındığı ve bilişsel aracın sunduğu çeşitli manipülasyon imkanları ile kavramların keşfedildiği belirtilmiştir. Ayrıca, kavram yanılgılarını gidermek ve yapılan hataları düzeltmek için farklı etkinlikler tasarlanabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of GeoGebra supported teaching materials developed as a cognitive tool for the formation of some geometric concepts of fifth grade students. Within the scope of this purpose, the question 'what effect does GeoGebra software, which is used as a cognitive tool in mathematics teaching, have on the geometric concept formation of fifth grade students?' was investigated. In the use of GeoGebra software, four different geometry acquisitions in the 5th grade mathematics curriculum were selected as sub-learning areas. The activities prepared with GeoGebra, the worksheets prepared accordingly and the interviews with the students at the end of the activities constituted the data set of this study. The research was carried out with 23 students in the fifth grade of secondary school. The students were divided into five groups according to their first semester mathematics exam grade averages. The data used in the study were collected over a period of four weeks. In line with the results obtained from the findings, it is seen that GeoGebra the dynamic software used as a cognitive tool has a positive effect on concept formation. It also was seen that the features and possibilities that GeoGebra carries and potentially offers will provide new opportunities for learning environments. As a result of the interviews with the students, it was stated that the use of computers made the lesson more interesting, that they enjoyed the work done in co-operation as a group, and that the concepts were explored with the various manipulation opportunities offered by the cognitive tool. It was also concluded that different activities could be designed to eliminate misconceptions and correct mistakes.
