Kuhn'un Paradigma Kavramı Bağlamında Kuantum Mekaniği

Abstract

Bu tez, Thomas S. Kuhn'un 'paradigma' kavramı bağlamında kuantum mekaniğinin değerlendirilmesi üzerine bir araştırmadır. Paradigma, bilim felsefesine Kuhn'un çalışmalarıyla girmiş olup zamanla pozitivist bilim imgesine karşı eleştirel bir tavırla karakterize olan post-pozitivist bilim imgesinin temel dinamiklerinden birini oluşturmuştur. Paradigmanın anlamına dair tek bir tanım yapmanın eksik bir girişim olacağını belirtmek gerekir. Bununla birlikte kavram hakkında genel bir değerlendirme yapmak gerekirse; paradigmanın sosyal bir grubun katılmış olduğu tüm bağlamları kuşatan kalıp ya da çerçeveye işaret ettiği söylenebilir. Ussal ve usdışı ögelerin bir arada bulunduğu Kuhn'un bilim imgesinde paradigma, bir araştırmacıya ele aldığı kuramı bilimsel ve sosyal boyutlarıyla birlikte bir bütün olarak değerlendirebilme imkanını sunacaktır. Böyle bir kavrayışı gerektiren kuramlardan biri, kuantum mekaniğidir. Çünkü kuantum mekaniği, 20. yüzyılda meydana gelmiş devrim yaratan bilimsel bir gelişmedir. Tüm dünyada önemli yansımalara sahne olmasından dolayı bu kuram, pek çok alandan araştırmacının dikkatini çekmiştir. O halde kuantum mekaniğinin çizdiği devrimsel şemayı ve taşıdığı bağlamları en iyi şekilde sunacak değerlendirmeyi, Kuhn'un paradigma anlayışının sağlayabileceği söylenebilir. Dolayısıyla bu tezin amacı; kuantum mekaniğini Kuhn'un paradigma kavramının sunduğu imkanlar çerçevesinde yeniden düşünmektir. Bu amaçla ilk olarak Kuhn'un bilim tasarımında paradigma kavramının anlamı incelenmiş ve bilimsel gelişmenin paradigma kavramı ekseninde belli dönemlerden geçtiği gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın daha sonraki girişimini Kuhn'un paradigma anlayışını kuantum mekaniğine uyarlama isteği oluşturmaktadır. Bu çerçevede kuantum mekaniği paradigma kavramı bağlamında iki aşamada incelenmiştir. Öncelikle kuantum mekaniğinin tarihsel gelişimi, paradigma kavramı ekseninde belirlenen bilimsel dönemlerle açıklanmak istenmiştir. Daha sonra paradigmanın anlamsal incelemesinden edinilen bazı bağlamların kuantum mekaniğinde tespiti denenmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda, kuantum mekaniği pozitivist bilim imgesindeki sınırlılıkları aşan paradigmacı bakış açısıyla yeniden düşünülmüş olup sahip olduğu devrimsel şema ortaya çıkmış ve kuramın onu oluşturan bilim topluluğundan soyutlanarak düşünülmesinin eksik bir kavrayış olacağı anlaşılmıştır.

This thesis is research on the evaluation of quantum mechanics in the context of Thomas S. Kuhn's concept of 'paradigm'. The Paradigm entered the philosophy of science with the work of Kuhn and formed one of the main dynamics of the post-positivist image of science, which was characterized by a critical attitude toward the image of positivist science over time. It should be noted that it would be an incomplete attempt to give a single definition of the meaning of the paradigm. However, to make a general assessment of the concept, it can be said that the paradigm refers to the pattern or framework that encompasses all the contexts in which a social group participates. In Kuhn's image of science, in which rational and irrational elements coexist, the paradigm will provide a researcher with the opportunity to evaluate the theory he discussed as a whole, together with its scientific and social dimensions. One of the theories that require such an understanding is quantum mechanics. Because quantum mechanics is a revolutionary scientific development that took place in the 20th century. Due to its significant reflections all over the world, this theory has attracted the attention of researchers from many fields. In that case, it can be said that Kuhn's paradigm understanding can provide the evaluation that will best present the revolutionary scheme drawn by quantum mechanics and the contexts it carries. Therefore, this thesis aims to rethink quantum mechanics within the framework of the possibilities offered by Kuhn's paradigm concept. For this purpose, first, the meaning of the concept of paradigm in Kuhn's science design has been examined and it has been tried to show that scientific development has passed through certain periods in the axis of the concept of paradigm. The next attempt of the study is the desire to adapt Kuhn's understanding of paradigm to quantum mechanics. In this context, quantum mechanics has been studied in two stages in the context of the concept of paradigm. First and foremost, the historical development of quantum mechanics was attempted to be explained using scientific periods based on the paradigm concept's axis. Later, some contexts obtained from the semantic analysis of the paradigm were tried to be determined in quantum mechanics. As a result of this study, quantum mechanics has been rethought with a paradigmatic perspective that goes beyond the limitations of the positivist science image, and its revolutionary scheme has emerged, and it has been understood that it would be an incomplete understanding to think of the theory in isolation from the scientific community that formed it.
