Abstract

Colorado tick fever is a viral disease, seen especially in the Rocky Mountain region, which is transmitted to humans by ticks of the Dermacentor andercani genus and caused by the Colorado tick fever virus. It is a rare viral disease. Studies on the pathogenesis of this disease are limited in the literature. Especially its cytopathic effects on hematopoietic cells cause anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia, which are the laboratory findings of the disease. Depending on the intensity of the effect on the hematolymphoid system, the clinic of the disease can range from mild symptoms such as fever, headache and weakness to severe symptoms such as hemorrhagic fever and meningoencephalitis and may even result in death. © 2022 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
