Abstract

This study was carried out based on the experiences and observations obtained during Turkish teaching studies in the Multiculturalism and Integration Graduate Programme in the Faculty of Education in Schwäbisch Gmünd. As Germany has been a multinational country for many years, it attaches great importance to social pedagogic studies related to immigrant children and young people. Many education faculties in Germany offer master’s programmes and instruction in immigrant languages within these programmes for those who work in social fields. Turkish courses are organized within the Multiculturalism and Integration Graduate Programme in the Faculty of Education in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The students who receive their graduate education here are adults and experience problems in learning Turkish. In particular, they tend to learn two languages comparatively and use bilingual course materials. The aim of this study is to find an answer to the question of how Turkish can be taught in the quickest and most effective way in these adult-oriented programmes. © Peter Lang GmbH.
