Ortaokul 8. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Afet Farkındalıkları: Niksar, Erbaa, Taşova İlçeleri Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokulların sekizinci sınıflarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin afetler konusunda bilişsel ve duyuşsal farkındalıklarının incelenmesidir. Çalışma nicel bir araştırma olup bu tür araştırmalarda çok sıklıkla kullanılan genel tarama modeline göre desenlenmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak iki bölümden oluşan bir anket formu kullanılmıştır. Bu anket formunun birinci bölümünde Ronan, Johnston, Daly ve Fairley (2001) tarafından geliştirilen Hazards Education Survey'in araştırmacı tarafından Türkçe'ye uyarlanmış ve modifiye edilmiş maddeleri yer almaktadır. İkinci bölümünde ise araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen 25 soruluk afetlerle ilgili çoktan seçmeli bir bilgi testi yer almaktadır. Çalışmanın evrenini Kuzey Anadolu Fayı üzerinde yer alması nedeniyle birinci derecede deprem riski taşıyan Tokat iline bağlı Niksar, Erbaa ilçeleri ile Amasya iline bağlı Taşova ilçesi idari sınırları içerisinde bulunan ve 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 8. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma evrenininden rastgele örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 654 8. sınıf öğrencisi çalışmaya katılmaya gönüllü olmuştur. Araştırma bulguları öğrencilerin en çok deprem afetine karşı kaygı durumlarının yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Buna karşılık öğrencilerin temel risk azaltıcı koruma faktörleri konusunda orta düzeyde farkındalığa sahip oldukları gözlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine the level of cognitive and affective awareness of disaster-affected students in the eighth grade of secondary education institutions. The study was a quantitative study and was designed according to the general screening model, wihich is used frequently in such studies. A two-part questionnaire form was used as data collection tool in the research. The first part of this questionnaire has items that are modified and adapted to Turkish by the researcher from the Hazards Education Survey, developed by Ronan, Johnston, Daly and Fairley (2001). In the second part, there is a multiple choice information test consisting 25 questions about disasters developed by the researcher. Universe of the study consists of the students who were educated in the 2015-2016 academic year in the eighth grade of secondary schools in Niksar, Erbaa and Taşova provinces, which are at risk of earthquake due to the fact that they are located on the North Anatolian Fault Line. 654 eighth grade students selected through random sampling from the study universe volunteered to participate in the study. The research findings indicate that the students have the most worries at risk of an earthquake. On the other hand, it has been observed that students have moderate awareness of the underlying risk reduction protection factors.
