Publication: Nütrisyon Hemşirelerinin Güçlendirme Algısı ve İş Doyumu Arasındaki İlişkinin Belirlenmesi
Abstract
Purpose: This research was designed to determine the relationship between empowerment perception and job satisfaction among nutrition nurses. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted with all nutrition nurses working nationwide in Turkey between April-July 2023. The sample consisted of 214 active nutrition nurses who agreed to participate. Data were collected via Google Forms using a Demographic Data Form, the Empowerment Perception Scale (EPS), and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale (MJSS). Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS V23.0 software. Findings: The mean total score for EPS was determined as 4.04±0.58, while for MJSS, it was 3.55±0.65. The mean scores for the sub-dimensions of EPS, Participation, Responsibility, and Autonomy, were found as 3.85±0.71, 4.68±0.54, and 3.85±0.79, respectively. For the sub-dimensions of MJSS, Internal Satisfaction and External Satisfaction, the mean scores were determined as 3.55±0.65 and 3.82±0.66, respectively. According to the study findings, the perception of empowerment is influenced by the presence of procedures and additional duties, while job satisfaction is affected by years of professional experience and the presence of additional duties. A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was found between the perception of empowerment and job satisfaction (r=0.553; p<0.001). The correlation coefficients between the sub-dimensions of EPS (Participation, Responsibility, and Autonomy) and the total score of MJSS were found to be statistically significant (r=0.540; p<0.001; r=0.213; p<0.001; r=0.463; p<0.001, respectively). The correlation coefficients between the sub-dimensions of MJSS (Internal Satisfaction and External Satisfaction) and the total score of EPS were found to be statistically significant (r=0.558; p<0.001; r=0.444; p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: In this study, a significant relationship was found between nutrition nurses' perception of empowerment and job satisfaction, indicating that as the perception of empowerment among nutrition nurses increases, so does their job satisfaction. Key Words: Nutritional Nursing, Perception of Empowerment, Job Satisfaction.
