Publication: Engelli Bireylerde Proprioseptif Duyunun İncelenmesi
Abstract
Veriler istatistiksel olarak SPSS 21 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) yazılım paket programı kullaılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analiz öncesinde normallik varsayımı ve homojenlik testleri yapılmıştır. Çarpıklık ve basıklık değerleri incelendikten sonra Shapiro-Wilk, Kolmogorov Smirnov testleri verilerin normal dağılıma uygun olduğunu göstermiştir (p>0,05). Gruplar arasındaki farklılıkları karşılaştırmak için bağımsız gruplar t-testi yapılmıştır. Çalışmamızdaki odak noktamız, dominant üst ekstremitenin distal eklemlerindeki propriyosepsiyonun serbest atış performansı üzerindeki etkisini araştırmaktır. Elde edilen veriler ışığında iki grubun şut becerisi değerlendirme skorları karılaştırıldığında, skorlar çok yakın olmasına rağmen profesyonel basketbolcuların daha iyi olduğu bulunmuştur. Proriosepsiyonlarını karşılaştırdığımız bu iki grupta, dirsek ve bilek ekleminde hedef açılara baktığımızda tekerlekli sandalye basketbolcularının sapma değerlerinin normal basketbolculara göre önemli ölçüde iyi olduğunu görülmüştür. Engelli basketbolcuların normal basketbolculara yakın şut beceri puanlarına sahip olması, engel sınıflarına ve oturarak şut atma dezavantajlarına rağmen proprioseptif becerilerinin gelişmiş olmasını da göstermiştir. Genel olarak, tekerlekli sandalyeli basketbolcular pratik yapma, uyum sağlama ve beceri geliştirme yoluyla şut isabetlerini etkileyen benzersiz zorluklarla karşılaşabilirken, normal basketbolcular gibi şut becerilerini geliştirmede proprioseptif egzersizlerle ile birlikte yüksek düzeyde yeterlilik elde edebilirler.
This study investigates the relationship between elbow and wrist proprioceptive sense and shooting skills in disabled basketball players. For this purpose, the population of the research consists of 20 professional basketball players who actively play basketball in the 2023-2024 season and 20 physically disabled basketball players competing in the Turkish Wheelchair Basketball Super League (Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Wheelchair Basketball and Bursa Physically Disabled Basketball Team). Measurements were taken from all individuals participating in our study under standard conditions. The target angles for flexion movements in the dominant elbow joint were determined as 30º, 60º and 90º. The target angles for flexion and extension movements in the dominant wrist joint were determined as 30º and 60º. Target angle measurements were made with a Baseline brand 1º sensitive digital goniometer. For shooting skill assessment ((Miyaguchi et al., 2022), a basketball court with standard court dimensions and standard basket height was used. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 21 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software package program. Normality assumption and homogeneity tests were performed before the analysis. After examining the skewness and kurtosis values, Shapiro-Wilk, Kolmogorov Smirnov tests showed that the data were normally distributed (p>0.05). Independent groups t-test was performed to compare the differences between the groups. Our study focus was to investigate the effect of proprioception in the distal joints of the dominant upper extremity on free throw performance. When the shooting skill assessment scores of the two groups were compared in the light of the obtained data, it was found that professional basketball players were better, although the scores were very close. In these two groups whose prorioceptions we compared, it was seen that the deviation values of wheelchair basketball players were significantly better than normal basketball players when we looked at the target angles in the elbow and wrist joints. The fact that disabled basketball players have shooting skill scores similar to regular basketball players also indicates that they have improved proprioceptive skills despite their disability class and the disadvantages of sitting down shooting. In general, wheelchair basketball players may face unique challenges that affect their shooting accuracy through practice, adaptation, and skill development, but they can achieve a high level of proficiency in developing shooting skills like regular basketball players with proprioceptive exercises.
