dc.description.abstractBilateral spontaneous and simultaneous rupture of the quadriceps tendons is a very rare injury. The pathogenesis of bilateral spontaneous and simultaneous rupture of the quadriceps tendons had been explained quite yet. The cardinal features of the injury are diffuse swelling around the knee, a visible or palpable suprapatellar defect and the inability to lift the straight leg despite a functioning quadriceps muscle. In this article, literature is reviewed, and is presented a case of bilateral spontaneous simultaneous rupture of the quadriceps tendons in a patient with chronic renal insufficiency and hemodialysis for the past eight months. The mechanism, diagnosis and surgical treatment of the injury are discussed.en_US
