Publication: Multipl Skleroz (MS) Hastalarında Bağlanma Stillerinin Bilişsel Esneklik İle İlişkisi
Abstract
Aim: The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between attachment styles and cognitive flexibility in MS patients. Material and Method: The study was conducted between January 2020 and April 2020 with MS patients who applied to Ondokuz Mayıs University Neurology Outpatient Clinic. Demographic Information Form, Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships II (YIYE-II), Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (BEE) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were applied to the participants who met the inclusion criteria in the data collection phase. The data obtained from the study were analyzed with IBM SPSS version 21 package program. Results: It seems that there is a negative relationship between anxious and avoidant attachment and the control sub-dimension of cognitive flexibility. There is a significant positive relationship between anxious attachment and depression score. Conclusion: It has been determined that the individuals who show avoidant and anxious attachment have lower ability to perceive compelling situations as controllable. It has been found that individuals who have high ability to produce alternative ways and perceive different options in case of challenging situations have lower depression scores. In addition, it was concluded that individuals with high levels of anxious attachment feel more lonely. Keywords: Attachment; Cognitive flexibility; Depression; Multiple sclerosis
