Abstract

Stereology is defined as the branch of science that uses data obtained from two-dimensional cross-sections of three-dimensional samples to make interpretations of their threedimensional properties in reality. The number of cells in organs and structures, the length of the organ, its volume, surface area, and volume components can be calculated using stereological methods. As in many branches of science, stereological analyzes have found a field of use in dermatology to better understand the histopathogenesis of diseases and to determine possible prognostic factors of diseases. In this chapter, stereological studies in dermatology will be discussed under the subheadings of stereological studies on the structure of the skin; stereological studies on wound healing and scar formation, stereological studies in skin diseases, and stereological studies in skin cancers. © 2024 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
