Abstract
iDEVEDİKENİ KELEBEĞİ, Vanessa cardui (Linnaeus, 1758)(LEPIDOPTERA: NYMPHALIDAE) LARVALARININBESİN TERCİHİNE ETKİ EDEN KİMYASAL FAKTÖRLERÖZETBu çalışmada, polifaj herbivor bir böcek olan Vanessa cardui larvalarının besintercihi, bitkilerin kimyasal içeriği bakımından araştırılmıştır. Larvaları üretmekamacıyla, önce ergin bireyler doğadan yakalanıp yumurtaları elde edilip larvalarınçıkması sağlanmıştır. Bu anlamda V. cardui'nin tüm yaşam evreleri laboratuvarda takipedilmiştir.Son evreye ulaşan V. cardui larvaları, Carduus pycnocephalus (L.), CentaureaDC. subsp. urvillei, Malva neglecta (Wall), Urtica dioica (L.) ve Alceaurvilleiapterocarpa (Fenzl) türleri ile 7 gün süren beslenme deneyi ile incelenmiştir.Çalışmada kullanılan bitkilerden protein içeriği en fazla olan bitki % 32,5 ile M.neglecta olurken, protein içeriği en düşük olan bitkiler % 16,9'luk değerle C.pycnocephalus ile yine % 16,9'luk değere sahip olan C. urvillei subsp. urvilleiolmuştur. En yüksek ECI değerine sahip larvaların ise C. pycnocephalus ile beslenenlarvalar olması bu bitkinin % 88,4'lük su içeriğine sahip olmasıyla açıklanabilir. Çünküsu, bitkilerden herbivorların azot elde edilme verimliliğini arttırmaktadır.Bitkilerin fenolik madde içerikleri arasında çok büyük bir fark gözlenmemiştir. Enfazla fenolik madde içeriği % 5,4 ile U. dioica'ya ait olurken, en az fenolik maddeiçeriği % 3,8 ile C. pycnocephalus'a aittir.Elde ettiğimiz verilere göre, C pycnocephalus, C. urvillei subsp.urvillei ve M.neglecta ile beslenen larvalar, A. apterocarpa ve U. dioica ile beslenen larvalardandaha önce gömlek değiştirip daha erken pup evresine girmişlerdir. Bu erken gömlekdeğiştiren larvaların pup evresinde gerçekleşecek metamorfik reaksiyonlar için yeterlidüzeydeki biyomolekülleri asgari sürede karşılaması, beslenme faaliyetindeki veriminde bir göstergesi olarak kabul edilebilir.ANAHTAR KELİMELER: Vanessa cardui, Herbivor besin tercihi, proteiniçeriği, fenolik maddeler, besin su içeriği

To obtain larvae, adult butterflies were caught in nature. Their eggswere then hatched to produce the larvae. In this way, every stage of the V. cardui lifecycle was investigated in the laboratory.V. cardui larvae reaching the last larval stage were used in a 7-day feedingexperiment with Carduus pycnocephalus (L.), Centaurea urvillei DC. subsp. urvillei,Malva neglecta (Wall), Urtica dioica (L.) ve Alcea apterocarpa (Fenzl) species as plantfoods.In this experiment, M. neglecta with a 32.5 % value had the highest total proteincontent; C. pycnocephalus and C. urvillei subsp. urvillei with 16.9 % values had thelowest total protein contents among the food plants. The larvae fed with C.pycnocephalus having the highest ECI value can be explained by this plant?s highestwater content (88.4 %), because the water content in the food plant improves thenitrogen availability to herbivores.There were no considerable differences among the phenolic content of the plantfoods. The highest phenolic content was obtained in U. dioica (5.4 %); on the contrary,the lowest content was in C. pycnocephalus (3.8 %) .In this research, the larvae fed with C. pycnocephalus, C. urvillei subsp. urvillei andM. neglecta moulted and reached the pupal stage earlier than the larvae fed with A.apterocarpa and U. dioica. These early moulting larvae obtained sufficientbiomolecules for metamorphic reactions in the pupal stage in a minimum period couldbe expected as a feeding efficiency parameter.KEY WORDS: Vanessa cardui , Herbivore food choice, protein content, phenolicsubstances, food water content
