Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are systems that incorporate treatment processes to reduce wastewater damage. Today, algorithms that combine the use of performance evaluation methodologies with contemporary modeling techniques are used to help determine the efficient and appropriate operation of these plants. This work aims to evaluate the performance of the Karbala Treatment plant located in central Iraq, as well as the design of the plant using the GPS X program using six scenarios. In order to evaluate the performance of the wastewater treatment plant in Karbala, the effective raw and treated wastewater data for the treatment plant were collected for a one year period from 1/1/2021 to 1/1/2022. The method used is robust and provides extensive security and can be used in practical systems. The removal efficiency of each variable in wastewater and effluents was calculated and compared with Iraqi standards. The performance efficiency of the Karbala treatment plant was evaluated, and the model of this station was built using GPS-X program. The results of the performance evaluation of the Karbala treatment plant showed that the concentrations of all pollutants in the wastewater met the Iraqi standards. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
