Publication: Farklı Dalga Boyları ile Yapılan Ek Aydınlatma Uygulamalarının Domates Fide Kalitesine Etkisi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of different supplemental lighting applications with red (K), blue (M) and white (B) LEDs on seedling quality traits in tomato. For this purpose, three applications were made as intermittent supplementary lighting (SLI) which is activated when the light intensity dropped below 100 μmolm-2s-1, continuous lighting throughout the day (SLSS) from sunrise to sunset and supplementary lighting with an extended photoperiod of 6 hours (3 hours before sunrise and after sunset) (SLP). In the study, daylight conditions (C) and Paclobutrazol application (PC) were considered as 2 controls treatments. The study was carried out in a glass greenhouse under insufficient light conditions during December month. Seedling height, stem diameter, root length, days to seedling maturity, leaf area, leaf chlorophyll content, stomatal conductance, seedling dry weights, leaf chroma and hue values, Dickson quality index and relative growth rate were determined. According to the study results, the seedlings with the shortest height (10.34 cm), the lowest stem diameter (1.96 cm) and the lowest leaf area were obtained from the PC application. In the daylight conditions (C) without any supplemental lighting and the control (PC) application with Paclobutrazol application under daylight conditions without any supplemental lighting, the root development of the seedlings was found to be weak, days to seedling maturity was long, and the total seedling dry weight and relative growth rate were low. The most ideal leaf colors were determined in the seedlings grown under the SLP-R application. Although the seedling heights were longer than the other light applications, the seedling quality of the SLP-R, SLP-W and SLP-B applications was found high due to the high stem diameter, root development, total seedling dry weight and relative growth rate. The highest Dickson quality index was obtained from SLP-R, SLP-W and SLP-B applications. It was also determined that the time to seedling maturity of the seedlings grown under these applications was shorter than the control applications.
