Abstract
The variation is a key characteristic of the desired product and process quality. The robust design concept is an effective technique to reduce product or process variation with selecting levels of design factors. In the literature, the vast majority of robust design studies are conducted under a certain environment. However, there is a number of situations that we have to deal with uncertainty. Therefore, this paper is four-fold. One, an appropriate design method is selected to generate a model matrix. Two, response surface functions of the mean and variance are estimated based on the specified approximation model. Three, a fuzzy robust design optimization model and its solution procedure are presented to obtain optimal operating conditions of design factors. Finally, validation and verification studies are conducted for an illustrative example to show the effectiveness of the proposed model under an uncertain environment. © 2021 IISE Annual Conference and Expo 2021.
