Hikâye ve Kitap Kapak Tasarımlarındaki Anlatıların Metinlerarası Etkileşimi Üzerine Nitel Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Hikâye ve Kitap Kapak Tasarımlarındaki Anlatıların Metinlerarası Etkileşimi Üzerine Nitel Bir İnceleme' başlıklı yüksek lisans tezi, görsel anlatı içeren bir metin olarak kitap kapaklarıyla, kitabın asıl içeriğini oluşturan sözcük temelli anlatı arasındaki metinlerarası ilişkiye odaklanmaktadır. Çalışmanın temel amacı, hikâye ve kitap kapaklarının etkileşim birimlerini incelemektir. Kitabın bütüncül bir nesne olması, bu alanda çalışmaları bulunan araştırmacıların ortak görüşüdür. Ancak kitabın içinde yer alan hikâye ve kitabın kapağı arasındaki ilişkinin biçimi konusu görüş ayrılığına neden olmaktadır. Tartışmalar, kitap kapaklarının hikâyelerden bağımsız bir metin olarak mevcudiyetinin sorgulanmasından ve hikayelerin kitap kapaklarında yeniden varlık kazanma biçimindeki farklılıklardan kaynaklanmaktadır. Kapağa yansıma sürecinde biçimsel farklılıklardaki görüş ayrılığı ise hikâyenin özetini yansıttığı, hikâyenin anlamsal özünü yansıttığı veya hikâyenin öne çıkan belirli sayıda göstergesi kullanılarak bütüncül olmayan bir açıdan anlamın aktarıldığı görüşleri ekseninde şekillenmektedir. Bu bağlamda '1984', 'Satranç' ve 'Cemile' romanları ve bu eserlerin Türkiye'den ikişer, Amerika, İngiltere, Almanya ve Fransa'dan birer tane toplamda ise 17 adet kitap kapağı da inceleme nesnesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışma anlatı çözümlemesi, göstergebilimsel analiz ve metinlerarası ilişki analizi içeren üç düzeyli bir yöntemsel süreç içermektedir. Belirlenen eserlerin anlatıları yapısal biçimde incelenmiş, kitap kapakları göstergelerine ayrılarak anlamsal yapıları ele alınmış ve bu iki ayrı metnin birbirleri ile metinlerarası etkileşim biçimleri analiz edilmiştir. Netice itibarıyla hikâye kapağa önceldir ve bu anlamsal açıdan bağımlılığı dayatır. Çalışmada kapak tasarımları oluşturulurken hikâye ile girdiği etkileşim sürecinde değişmeyen unsurlar ve olgular tespit edilmiştir ve karakteristik yapı belirlenmiştir. Çözümlemeler sonucu, söz konusu karakteristik yapının anıştırma ve gönderge ilişkisi bağlamında şekillendiği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca kitap kapaklarının, hikâyenin özetini yansıtmadığı, hikâyenin ana odağında bulunan göstergeleri yansıtarak içeriğe dair ipuçları sağladığı saptanmıştır.

The master's thesis titled 'A Qualitative Study on the Intertextual Interaction of Narratives in Story and Book Cover Designs' focuses on the intertextual relationship between book covers as a text containing visual narrative and the word-based narrative that constitutes the actual content of the book. The main purpose of the study is to examine the interaction units of story and book covers. The fact that the book is a holistic object is the common opinion of researchers working in this field. However, the form of the relationship between the story inside the book and the book cover causes disagreement. The debates stem from the questioning of the existence of book covers as a text independent of stories and the differences in the way stories reappear on book covers. The difference of opinion in the formal differences in the process of reflection on the cover is shaped around the views that it reflects the summary of the story, reflects the semantic essence of the story or conveys the meaning from a non-integrated perspective by using a certain number of prominent indicators of the story. In this context, the novels '1984', 'Satranç' and 'Cemile' and 17 book covers of these works, two from Turkey, one each from the USA, England, Germany and France, were determined as the object of analysis. The study involves a three-level methodological process including narrative analysis, semiotic analysis and intertextual relationship analysis. The narratives of the identified works were structurally analyzed, the book covers were divided into their signifiers and their semantic structures were discussed, and the forms of intertextual interaction between these two separate texts were analyzed. As a result, the story precedes the cover and this imposes semantic dependence. While creating the cover designs in the study, the elements and phenomena that do not change in the process of interaction with the story were identified and the characteristic structure was determined. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that this characteristic structure was shaped in the context of the relationship between allusion and reference. In addition, it was determined that book covers do not reflect the summary of the story, but provide clues about the content by reflecting the indicators in the main focus of the story.
