Abstract
Veriler SPSS for Windows 21 aracılığıyla bilgisayar ortamına girilerek değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. BULGULAR: Araştırmaya katılan tıpta uzmanlık öğrencilerinin %18,5'i aile hekimi %81,5'i diğer bölüm hekimleriydi. Tıpta uzmanlık öğrencilerinin ulusal kanser tarama programı standartları içinde yer alan programları (serviks kanseri tarama programı, meme kanseri tarama programı, kolorektal kanser tarama programı) doğru bilme düzeyi %47,6'idi. Aile hekimliği uzmanlık öğrencilerinin doğru bilme oranı %67,4 ,diğer bölüm uzmanlık öğrencilerinin doğru bilme oranı ise %43,1'di. Aile hekimlerinin %93,5'i hastalarına ulusal kanser taramalarını öneriyor iken diğer hekimlerin %60,4'ü hastalarına kanser taramalarını önermekteydi.
AIM: The most important control strategy for cancer is early detection by screening. Therefore, the importance of cancer screening is an indisputable fact. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine medical specialist students about cancer screening and to raise awareness. MATERIALS METHOD: The research was cross-sectional.The medical specialist students who were educated at OMU Faculty of Medicine, who were informed about the study and who accepted the study were included. The data of the study was collected by face to face interview with a structured questionnaire. 248 people participated in the study. Descriptive statistics, chi-square and fisher exact tests were used for data analysis. Data were entered into the computer environment via SPSS for Windows 21 and the relationships between the variables were examined. RESULTS:18.5% of the specialty students in the study were family physicians and 81.5% were other department physicians. The level of accurate knowledge of medical specialty students about the national cancer screening program standards (cervical cancer screening program, breast cancer screening program, colorectal cancer screening program) was 47.6%. The correct knowledge rate of family medicine specialty students was%67,4 and the correct knowledge rate of other department specialty students was 43,1%. While 93.5% of family physicians recommended national cancer screening programs to their patients, 60.4% of other physicians recommended cancer screening programs to their patients. The level of knowing and recommending all national cancer screenings was higher in family physicians than other physicians. CONCLUSION: Our study determined that the awareness of medical specialty students about the national cancer screening program is not sufficient. Both the level of knowledge and their participation in cancer screening programs were found to be insufficient. The fact that physicians have sufficient knowledge in cancer screenings and their reflections on their behaviors are very important for the success of the screening program.
