Ömer Seyfettin'in Hikâyelerinde Aile ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet

Abstract

Edebiyatımıza getirmiş olduğu ilkler ile bilinen Ömer Seyfettin, eserleri, düşünceleri ve hikâye türüne getirmiş olduğu yenilikleriyle gerek kendi döneminde gerekse kendi döneminden sonraki sanatçıları etkilemesi bakımından önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, edebiyatımızın en önemli yazarlarından birisi olan Ömer Seyfettin'in hikâyelerinde aile ve toplumsal cinsiyet unsurlarının nasıl vurgulandığı incelenerek toplumsal cinsiyet ve aile hakkındaki düşünceleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Toplumun en küçük birimi olan aile, toplumsallaşmanın başladığı ilk yerdir. Toplumun aileyi, ailenin de toplumu etkilediği aşikârdır. Bu bağlamda Ömer Seyfettin'in hikâyelerinde aile yapıları, aile içinde kadın- erkek ve çocuk ilişkileri, aşk, evlilik ve boşanma ile ilgili düşünceler; din, eğitim, ekonomi, değerler gibi olguların işlevleri değerlendirilmiştir. Hikâyelerinde işlemiş olduğu toplumsal meseleler günümüze de ışık tutmaktadır. Ekonomik ve ahlaki bozukluklardan, bilinçsizce yapılan Batılaşma hayranlığından, halkın içine düştüğü ümitsizlikten kurtulmanın yolu olarak milli ve manevi değerlerle yüklü, bilgili, kültürlü, kendi ayakları üstünde durabilen, geçmişini bilen ve geleceğe ümitle bakabilen bir toplumdan geçtiğine inanmaktadır. Toplumsal cinsiyet kelimesi son zamanlarda çok sık kullanılmaya başlansa da ataerkil toplumlarda tarihin her döneminde belirgin özelliklerini göstermektedir. Üzerinde durulan toplumsal cinsiyet kalıp yargıları ve toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri, hikâyenin yazılmasından yüz yıl geçmesine rağmen günümüzde de devam ettiği anlaşılmaktadır. In this study, one of the most important writers of our literature, Ömer Seyfettin, tries to determine his thoughts about gender and family by examining how family and gender elements are emphasized. The family, which is the smallest unit of society, is the first place where socialization begins. It is seen that the problems of the society affects the family and the family problems affects the society. In this context, family structures, women-man and child relationships in the family, thoughts about love, marriage and divorce; The functions of the subjects such as religion, education, economy and values were evaluated. The social issues in his stories shed light on today. The way to get rid of the economic and moral disorders, the unconsciousness of Westernization, the despair that the people have fallen into, passes through a society that is loaded with national and spiritual values, knowledgeable, cultured, able to stand on its own feet and looking back to the future who knows the past. The word gender has been used frequently in recent times, but it shows the distinctive characteristics of patriarchal societies in every period of history. It is understood that the gender stereotypes and gender roles that are emphasized are stil continuing today despite a hundred years since the story was written.
