Abstract
Increasing environmental degradation, unpredictable weather patterns, and the global socioeconomic challenges stemming from fossil fuel use intensify the need for an alternative, renewable, and eco-friendly energy source. Bioenergy offers viable alternatives, including bioethanol, biobutanol, biodiesel, biohydrogen, and biogas, with bioethanol and biobutanol standing out as particularly prominent. The field of nanotechnology has seen significant progress, holding the potential to streamline the traditional and cost-effective production of bioalcohol, encompassing both bioethanol and biobutanol. Recent breakthroughs enable the development of a reliable and efficient nanobiocatalyst system capable of offsetting production costs. This chapter delves into the current landscape of nanoparticle utilization across various stages of bioalcohol synthesis, focusing on bioethanol and biobutanol. Harnessing nanomaterials in diverse bioconversion processes emerges as a sustainable solution, reducing costs associated with raw biomass processing and manufacturing, while mitigating adverse environmental impacts. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
