Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the relationship between burden, well-being, time management and leisure satisfaction among formal caregivers of elderly people. This study was conducted at Havza Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Turkey with 136 formal caregivers. Data were collected by face to face interview. Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), Care Giver Well-Being Scale (CWS), Time Management Inventory (TMI), Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale (LDS) were administered to individuals. There was positive statistically significant correlation between leisure satisfaction and wellbeing (p<0.05). A positive statistically significant correlation between caregiving burden and time management skills also (p<0.05). However, a negative statistically significant correlation was detected between total wellbeing and time management (p<0.05). There was negative statistically significant correlation between leisure satisfaction and time management (p<0.05). The relationship between caregiving burden and well being was not statistically significant (p>0.05). According to our findings, while leisure activities and time management gain importance in protecting the well-being of caregivers, it is also important to provide time management in preventing burden of caregivers. © 2024 Ondokuz Mayis Universitesi.
