Publication: Özel Spor Salonu Kullanan Bireyleri Fiziksel Aktiviteye Motive Eden ve Engelleyen Faktörlerin İncelenmesi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the factors that motivate and prevent individuals using private gyms from physical activity and to determine whether these reasons differ according to some variables. The sample of the research consisted of a total of 255 participants, 151 women and 104 man, selected by random sampling method, using a private gym in Samsun. The data were collected via Personal Information Form, Physical Activity Motivation Scale (FAKMO) developed by Tekkurşun Demir and Cicioğlu (2018) and the 5-point Likert type 'Physical Activity Barriers Scale' by Şuraya et al. to determine the situations that are seen as obstacles to physical activity. applied to the face. Necessary permissions have been obtained for the use of the scales, all of the statements are positive and high scores increase the possibility of creating an obstacle. In the statistical evaluation of the data, the assumption of normality was first examined with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests (P>0.05). In the study, gender, marital status, alcohol use, sports activity, etc. Student's t test (significance test of the difference between two averages) determines whether the scale total and sub-dimension total scores differ in terms of demographic characteristics. One-Way Analysis of Variance determines whether there is a difference according to income level, purpose of going to the gym, duration of exercise, type of working in the gym. and determined by Tukey's multiple comparison test. In the study, the internal consistency of the answers given to all items and subscale items of the Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale and Physical Activity Barriers Scale was found to be moderately and highly reliable. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the participants' motivations for participating in physical activity according to their gender, alcohol consumption, sports activity, income level, duration of exercise, purpose of going to the gym, and type of working in the gym. In addition, it was determined that there was no significant difference between the participants' motivation to participate in physical activity according to their educational status, marital status and smoking status. In order to increase people's motivation to participate in physical activity, it is important to increase the benefits of physical activities and recognize physical activity obstacles and their solutions.
