Abstract

In their daily life students consider history lessons boring and useless since it deals with the past events. Therefore, they tend to have prejudice against history lessons. The traditional methods teachers use in history lessons and direct information transfer based only on memorization have an effect upon student's developing negative attitude towards history lessons. Besides that, students tend to memorize since they are put in a passive position and the lesson is teacher centred decreasing their analytical thinking. This sort of teaching strategy offers an easy way for the student, Who likes memorising the things. Thus, the student develops a positive attitude towards the lesson and find it easy to learn. However, students have multiple intelligences. Therefore, it is necessary that some teaching strategies based on Brain-Based Theory should be given a place in the classrooms in order to train individuals who are modern and can question and make logical connection between events to lower the negative attitudes towards history lessons. This study has been carried out in order to find out to what extent Brain-Based Instruction has an effect up on student's developing attitude towards history lesson. As can be seen from the results obtained, after the application of Brain-Based teaching strategies, the students have developed a positive attitude towards history lesson.
