Abstract

The detection and removal of the errors and inconsistency of spatial data in vectors are the main concerns of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) since the GIS templates in vector form are obtained from the raster maps and plans. In order to increase the accuracy and the reliability of GIS analyses, a thorough and reliable error detection and removal procedure is indispensible. In this study, the possible geometric and topological errors are explained in detail; the methods of detecting such error sources are given along with methods of determination and visualization. © 2010 Academic Journals.
