Abstract

An experiment was carried out to during to study whether soil extracellular enzyme activities can be used as an indicator of soil-structural stability and erodibility or not. The relationships between soil credibility indices (eg erosion ratio, structural stability index, permeability ratio and soil credibility factor) and extracellular enzyme activities (urease activity, acid and alkaline phosphatase activity) were determined. Alkaline phosphatase and urease activity did not show correlation with the soil erodibility indices, whereas the correlation between acid phosphatase activity and soil erodobility indices was significant (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05).
