İlkokul 4. Sınıf Öğrencilerinde Etkin Vatandaşlık Eğitiminin Etkililiği

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, sosyal bilgiler dersinde, etkin vatandaşlık eğitim programı temel alınarak yapılan öğretimin, öğrencilerin etkin vatandaşlık düzeylerine (bilgilerine-becerilerine ve değerlerine, başarılarına) etkisi ve bu etkinin kalıcılığı araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, hazırlanan eğitim programı, ilkokul 4. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde pilot çalışma olarak 48 öğrenci ile 9 hafta uygulanmıştır. Esas uygulama ise 40 ilkokul 4. Sınıf öğrencisi ile 9 haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma deneysel araştırma modellerinden biri olan ön test-son test-kalıclık testi kontrol gruplu deneme modeline göre desenlenmiştir. Çalışmada gruplar kontrol ve deney grubu desenine göre oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmanın asıl uygulaması 2013-2014 öğretim yılı ikinci döneminde Bayburt İli merkezinde yer alan ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmacı deney ve kontrol gruplarının derslerine ilgili ünitelerde girmiştir. Deney grubunda, ilkokul 4. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi 'Hep Birlikte' ve 'İnsanlar ve Yönetim' ünitelerine yönelik kullanılan, insan hakları ve vatandaşlık kazanımlarını içeren, aktif öğrenme etkinlikleri ile zenginleştirilmiş, etkin vatandaşlık ile ilgili öğretim etkinlikleri uygulanmış ve öğrenme sonuçları değerlendirilerek etkililiği araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada deney ve kontrol grubunda 20'şer öğrenci yer almıştır. Gruplar; ''etkin vatandaşlık ölçeği'' ve 'etkin vatandaşlık başarı testi' ön test sonuçları dikkatte alınarak eşitlenmiştir. Araştırmada kullanılan ölçme araçları oturumların başlamasından bir hafta önce ön-test ölçümü olarak; oturumlardan sonra son-test ölçümü olarak; son-test ölçümlerinden bir ay sonra ise deneysel işlemin kalıcılığını belirlemek amacıyla izleme ölçümü olarak deney ve kontrol gruplarındaki öğrencilere tekrar uygulanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde verilerin dağılımı ve varsayımlar test edilerek, parametrik ve non-parametrik test teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma süresince elde edilen veriler bir istatistik paket programı (SPSS 21.00) aracılığıyla çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular, etkin vatandaşlık ile ilgili öğretim etkinlikleri temel alınarak yapılan eğitimin, deney grubundaki öğrencilerin, etkin vatandaşlık düzeylerini ve başarı düzeylerini artırdığı ve bu durumun izleme ölçümlerinde de korunduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Kontrol gruplarında bulunan öğrencilerin etkin vatandaşlık düzeyi ön-test, son-test ve kalıcılık testi ölçümlerinden elde ettikleri puanlar arasında ise anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar tartışılmış ve gelecek araştırmalar için önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

In the current study, teaching based on active citizenship activities to the effect of students' active citizenship level (information, skills and values, achievement) in social studies course, and permanence of this effect were investigated. For that purpose, a pilot study was performed with 48 students of fourth grade in social studies course at primary schools, during the nine weeks. The main study was also performed with 40 students of fourth grade in social studies course at primaly for the same time. The present main study was conducted according to pre-test post-test and permanence-test control group design that is one of the experimental research methods. In the study, students were divided into two groups: the control group and the experimental group. The study was carried out with fourth grade students of a primary school in Bayburt province center in second semester of the 2013-2014 academic years. The researcher was followed the courses for control and experimental group, during the time of chapters that included social studies. In the experimental group, the teaching activities associated with active citizenship that enhanced by active learning activities and included the human right and citizenship acquisition to 'All Together' and 'People and Management' chapters of Social Studies courses at the primary school were performed and their effectiveness was investigated while evaluating learning outcomes. There were 20 students in each group in the study. Groups were equalized according to the pre-test results of 'active citizenship scale', and 'active citizenship achievement test'. The assessment instruments in this study were repeatedly applied as a pre-test to students of both experimental and control group, before one week from over the beginning of sessions; as a post-test after the sessions were completed; and as a following measurement, in order to determine the permanence of the experimental manipulation, after one month from the post-test measurements. In data analysis, parametric and non parametric tests were used by data distribution and assumptions. The data was analyzed by using a Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS 21.00). The findings were showed that the education based on teaching activities associated with active citizenship, was increased active citizenship levels and achievement levels of the students in the experimental group and this was retained in the follow up measurements. The scores of active citizenship levels of the students in the control group, were founded no differentiation among the measurements, statistically. These findings of the current study were discussed and suggestions for future researches were made.
